四、专业简介
东北大学悉尼智能科技学院应用统计学专业由东北大学应用统计学专业和悉尼科技大学理学部（Faculty of Science）统计学专业（Statistics）联合设立，于2020年开始招生，隶属东北大学悉尼智能科技学院。本专业旨在培养从事数据采集、分析、处理与应用，掌握先进统计工具及方法的高级专门人才。专业在东北大学优势学科的基础上融入世界先进教育发展、人才培养、教育管理理念，引进悉尼科技大学核心课程体系。专业面向未来信息产业与数据科学前沿技术的发展需求，注重培养学生的数据分析与处理的理论及实践能力，不断拓展学生的国际视野与创新思维，通过对数学与统计学基础理论、数据分析与处理方法、大数据与人工智能系统等方面的专门知识和专门技能教学，使学生深刻理解本领域的国内外理论前沿、发展动态，具备本领域的主流技术并具有在统计与数据分析及其相关领域解决实际问题、从事学术前沿问题研究的能力，成为具有坚实理论基础、实践能力、全球视野与深造潜力的国际化交叉复合型创新人才。
Affiliated to Sydney Smart Technology College, Northeastern University (SSTC, NEU), jointly established by Applied Statistics major at Northeastern University (NEU) and Statistics major in Faculty of Science at University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the major of Applied Statistics started enrollment in 2020. It aims to cultivate talents specializing in data acquisition, analysis, processing and application and mastering advanced statistical tools and methods. The major integrates the world’s advanced concept of educational development, talent cultivation and educational management on the basis of NEU advantageous disciplines, and introduces the core curriculum system of UTS. To meet the demands for the information industry and cutting-edge technology of data science in the future, the major focuses on cultivating students' theoretical knowledge and practical ability of data analysis and processing, and continuously expands students' international vision as well as innovative thinking. With the teaching of specialized knowledge and techniques on the area of mathematics and statistics, data analysis and processing methods, big data and artificial intelligence systems, students will have a deep understanding of domestic and foreign cutting-edge theory, and development trends, master the predominant technology, solve practical problems in the related domain of statistics and data analysis, and engage in research on academic cutting-edge issues. Graduates are expected to be interdisciplinary innovative talents with a solid knowledge of fundamental theory, practical skills, global vision and further study potential.
